The setting

Second Avenue Daycare provides a nurturing, safe environment for children to thrive from 10 months to 2 years-old.

We follow Montessori values of learning through play and experience, with a diverse range of weekly themes based on the Early Years Framework - providing stimulation, variety and a lot of fun!

There is a maximum of nine children in the setting on a daily basis, with myself and two members of staff providing a 1:3 ratio at all times.

Children have access to a multi-room setting and garden, plus lots of outings to Vine Road Park, Barnes Pond, our allotment and the riverside.

About me

I'm Sam, an Ofsted registered childminder and mum of one. I grew up in Barnes and have lived here for over 40 years.

I am passionate about providing a warm, loving and inclusive environment for your child and love creating fun, engaging and development focused activities and experiences for this key learning stage.

I have been childminding since January 2024, when I left a corporate career and re-trained under my mum, Linda Bonnar, at St Ann’s Daycare on First Avenue.

Second Avenue Daycare is an expansion of those same nurturing, hands-on values and I am dedicated to providing exceptional home-from-home daycare for the children we look after.

I honestly can’t say enough good things about Sam! She has been absolutely wonderful with my son Leo, kind, warm, and so friendly from day one. It’s clear how much she genuinely cares, and Leo has absolutely thrived in her care.

What really stands out is the creativity Sam brings to everything she does. The activities she plans aren’t just fun (though they definitely are), they’re also full of learning, imagination, and thought.

We feel so incredibly lucky to have found Sam, and I truly wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to anyone - she’s a real gem.
